Leila Chaibi was born on April 15, 1982, in Créteil. Born to an Algerian father and a French mother, she studied cinema in France before starting her career as a Video Reporter for the France Télévisions group. Her passion for discovery and travel led her to work as a freelance camera operator, mainly for television, first in France, then in the Indian Ocean and the Maghreb. She has contributed to various magazines and documentaries. "La Brûlure" (2009) is the first documentary film she directed and self-produced, focusing on immigration—a theme close to her own story. In 2016, she co-directed "Le Verrou" with Hélène Poté. That same year, she began working on a new documentary, HASSAN THE MADMAN, THE GUARDIAN OF WORLDS, which was pitched at the 14th Tënk Co-Production Meetings in Saint-Louis, Senegal.
