Biography

After graduating from the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français, Elyes Baccar worked as an assistant director in several Tunisian and international films. He directed several short films, commercials and documentaries. In 2004, he directed his first film She & He. He won several prizes for Best Short Documentary in many festivals. Rouge Parole, his documentary was acclaimed by international critics and won several awards. Tunis by Night is his second feature film. Baccar received a number of prestigious awards. He won the Golden Award at the Aljazeera Documentary Festival two times for his film Pakistan 7.6 in 2006 and for Music Says in 2008. Also, Baccar received the Special Jury Prize at the O’cean Film Festival for his documentary film Mur de Lamentation. In 2012, he directed Rouge Parole that received a wide acclaim and a number of awards. Between 2014 and 2016, Baccar directed two feature documentaries; Cairo 30th and Lost in Tunisia that landed its world premiere at the Festival International Du Film Des Dorits de l'Homme in Tunisia.
